How do we find the right people to help us run our business? Who will work really hard and share our enthusiasm? What person will commit to a job that
is part time with wages that are at the top end of what we can afford, yet less than what they can make elsewhere? Why in the world would anyone want
to jump into a job that is physically hard and even stressful at times? Where do we find someone to sign up for all of that? This is the kind of thing
that keeps me awake at night.

“What could possibly go wrong?” is the
little joke we like to say to each other at Pickwick. It helps to have a sense of humor as you jump into yet another event that is completely new.
We try our very best to think through the scenario and anticipate every detail, yet with each occasion there is inevitably a twist involved. Experience
is proving to be just like that really tough teacher that you don’t fully appreciate at the time. But as you glance backward, you can’t help but
respect the hard lessons because those are the ones that prepare you the most.

The proposal was perfect. You were swept off of your feet, and you're still on cloud nine. Between stealing glances at the new bling on your finger, you
add pins to "The Big Day" board on Pinterest at a record pace. You'll have a signature cocktail, a sparkler send-off, a cheesecake bar, fresh orchids
overnight shipped from Columbia, and don't forget the designer dress. Quickly, you put down your phone and rush off to the corner store for a PowerBall
ticket. Clearly, it's going to take every bit of the million dollar jackpot to pull off your wedding plans.

2016 was a blur for The Loft. From our official opening on June 4, to December 31, we hosted
an even 70 events. 36 of those were weddings. It was humbling to be a part of so many couples' big days.

night, Greg, Kent, Laura, and I took a "field trip" south to Waldo to The Barn at All Occasions, a new event venue opening soon. We have really appreciated
working with the staff at All Occasions at our bridal open
houses. Since they've joined us so many times at our venue, it was fun to see them on their home turf. We appreciated the invitation to visit, and
we enjoyed seeing The Barn. (photo at left)

I’m not one to wish away time. Being the mother of three boys, the usual cry of my heart is for it all to slow down. But lately I can hardly wait for the
months following October and the close of The Market to get here. (And not just because I need a nap. Alright, maybe it’s that, but it is also the
perfect time to regroup and reflect.)

You've spent hours (ok, probably days) scouring Pinterest for the perfect wedding ideas, and you've created your decorations. Your order has been placed
with the florist. You've chosen your caterer and set a menu. Your cake (or cupcakes or pie) has been ordered. You've met with the dj and created the
perfect plan for the evening. You have beautiful musicians for the ceremony and, of course, someone to marry you. Bring on the big day... you're ready!
Or, are you? Who is the glue that will hold all of your plans and dreams together? What assurance do you have that the time, tears, and money you've
spent on creating a dream wedding will pay off?

We've shared this picture on our Facebook page before, and I was thinking about it again this morning.
It's actually a pretty good synopsis of the project we're undertaking at Pickwick.
