“What could possibly go wrong?” is the
little joke we like to say to each other at Pickwick. It helps to have a sense of humor as you jump into yet another event that is completely new.
We try our very best to think through the scenario and anticipate every detail, yet with each occasion there is inevitably a twist involved. Experience
is proving to be just like that really tough teacher that you don’t fully appreciate at the time. But as you glance backward, you can’t help but
respect the hard lessons because those are the ones that prepare you the most.

2016 was a blur for The Loft. From our official opening on June 4, to December 31, we hosted
an even 70 events. 36 of those were weddings. It was humbling to be a part of so many couples' big days.

This may be the kind of blog I write every fall, about transitions. It can't be helped really because suddenly everything is changing swiftly,
leaves falling first from the yellowing soybean fields, students back in school, apples and pumpkins.

We've shared this picture on our Facebook page before, and I was thinking about it again this morning.
It's actually a pretty good synopsis of the project we're undertaking at Pickwick.

I'm not from this area. I grew up in the southeastern corner of Knox County, a stone's throw and a hop from Appalachia. Greg and I met through FFA in high
school and later were both students at The Ohio State University. The rest, as they say, is history, and I've been a Crawford County resident for going
on eight years.
