How do we find the right people to help us run our business? Who will work really hard and share our enthusiasm? What person will commit to a job that
is part time with wages that are at the top end of what we can afford, yet less than what they can make elsewhere? Why in the world would anyone want
to jump into a job that is physically hard and even stressful at times? Where do we find someone to sign up for all of that? This is the kind of thing
that keeps me awake at night.

big market barn doors closed for the season, but things didn’t exactly come to a halt for us as events continued to hum along in The Loft. My main
responsibility there is to supervise the clean-ups and new set-ups. I love working with the team of people we’ve assembled and we had a pretty good
winter routine. The most interesting thing that happened was in January when I got to be a front row guest as our middle son got married. The new perspective
definitely gave me some insight into what a wedding experience is all about. It renewed my resolve to make sure the details for each event are complete.

As happy as we are to see spring hit The Pickwick Place, we're also a little taken back. After all, it seems like fall was just winding down. And now,
here we are almost May. Things are starting to pick up, and before long, the hustle will be back. Before we hit the ground running, let's answer the
question, "What happened to winter?!"

“What could possibly go wrong?” is the
little joke we like to say to each other at Pickwick. It helps to have a sense of humor as you jump into yet another event that is completely new.
We try our very best to think through the scenario and anticipate every detail, yet with each occasion there is inevitably a twist involved. Experience
is proving to be just like that really tough teacher that you don’t fully appreciate at the time. But as you glance backward, you can’t help but
respect the hard lessons because those are the ones that prepare you the most.

The proposal was perfect. You were swept off of your feet, and you're still on cloud nine. Between stealing glances at the new bling on your finger, you
add pins to "The Big Day" board on Pinterest at a record pace. You'll have a signature cocktail, a sparkler send-off, a cheesecake bar, fresh orchids
overnight shipped from Columbia, and don't forget the designer dress. Quickly, you put down your phone and rush off to the corner store for a PowerBall
ticket. Clearly, it's going to take every bit of the million dollar jackpot to pull off your wedding plans.

2016 was a blur for The Loft. From our official opening on June 4, to December 31, we hosted
an even 70 events. 36 of those were weddings. It was humbling to be a part of so many couples' big days.

Red Delicious, Cortland, Melrose, Paula Red, Jonathan, McIntosh, Golden Delicious, Zestar, Fuji, Honeycrisp, Gala, Jonagold. These are my ranking of apples
that we sold this fall from my personal least to greatest liking. I’m sure some of you are surprised that Cortland is low, Jonagold is at the top,
or that Honeycrisp is third, but what’s even more surprising is that my favorite apple isn’t even what we sold. Why is that? Because it’s a Club variety.
